OpenAI to end \'ChatGPT Atlas\' web browser on Aug. 9, changes Mac users need to know

OpenAI will end service for its Mac-only web browser \'ChatGPT Atlas\' on Aug. 9, the IT outlet 9to5Mac reported. OpenAI warned Atlas may no longer open or support web browsing and agent-style workflows after the shutdown. Bookmarks will not migrate automatically, and users are advised to export them to an HTML file and save key pages before the deadline. Chat history will remain accessible. Security updates will also stop.

Perplexity alumnus launches Polar AI browser aimed at knowledge workers

Kevin Zhang, who took part in developing Perplexity\'s AI browser Comet, has founded an AI browser startup called Polar aimed at knowledge workers and raised $5.7 million in seed funding. TechCrunch reported the round was led by Madrona. Polar focuses on workflow automation rather than consumer browsing, letting users delegate tasks to agents based on open tabs and save prompts. The browser is free with limited daily credits, with subscriptions starting at $20 a month for higher limits.
