Perplexity has opened its local AI agent, 'Personal Computer', to all Mac users, TechCrunch reported on May 7.
Perplexity’s Personal Computer lets an AI agent access local files, applications, connectors and the web to handle users’ multi-step workflows. Perplexity described it as bringing computing to the device where real work takes place, rather than staying in a cloud-only environment.
When Personal Computer was first unveiled last month, it was run on a waitlist basis for Perplexity Max subscribers. Now any Mac user can use it.
Personal Computer currently supports more than 400 connectors. It uses users’ personal information and context, but processing is handled within Perplexity’s server security isolation environment. When used with Perplexity’s AI web browser Comet, it can also run web-based tools without separate connectors.
Perplexity said Personal Computer can also be used for project work involving spreadsheets, documents and multiple materials. It can compare 2 files across apps, or pull notes from one app and draft in another.
