Grayscale moves to launch spot Worldcoin ETF, pending SEC and Nasdaq approval

Asset manager Grayscale has begun procedures to launch a spot exchange-traded fund based on the Worldcoin token, WLD. It filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for the Grayscale Worldcoin ETF, which would track a CoinDesk benchmark rate and list on Nasdaq under the symbol GWLD. The filing details custody and administration partners and flags regulatory risks, token volatility and ownership concentration.

Robinhood Chain temporarily ranks second globally in DEX volume, driven by memecoin

Robinhood Chain briefly rose to second place globally in decentralised exchange (DEX) trading volume over the weekend, driven largely by memecoin activity. DefiLlama data showed the chain recorded about $878 million in DEX volume on July 12, temporarily surpassing Coinbase’s Base and Ethereum. Most of the volume came from CashCat, a memecoin named after a former mascot, which jumped more than 2,100 percent in its first week.

Cardano to transfer control of core infrastructure to external teams

Cardano developer Input Output will transfer control of key blockchain infrastructure to external teams as part of efforts to decentralise the network. The handover covers the Haskell node, Plutus smart-contract platform, Daedalus wallet, Hydra scaling technology and developer relations. SevenLabs and TeraGon will take on parts of development, with the transition starting in August and running through 2027. The announcement comes as Cardano faces weak network activity and a sharp drop in ADA.
