Chery-JLR joint Freelander electric vehicle brand launches in Middle East
Freelander, an electrified brand jointly developed by China’s Chery and Jaguar Land Rover, has launched in the United Arab Emirates as it targets global markets. The companies held a global brand launch event in Abu Dhabi on Sept. 29 and unveiled the Freelander 8 as the first strategic model. Premier Motors will handle sales in Abu Dhabi, while Al Tayer Motors will cover Dubai and the northern emirates.

UK September EV sales up 36 percent as Chinese brands surge
Britain\'s electric vehicle market recorded its biggest-ever September sales as battery-electric vehicle registrations rose 36.3 percent from a year earlier to 99,201, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said. BEV market share reached 28.3 percent, narrowing the gap with petrol cars at 37.6 percent. Plug-in hybrid registrations rose 55.5 percent, while hybrids fell 4.3 percent. Chinese brands took about 20 percent of registrations.

Tesla Cybercab has no hydraulic brakes. How does it stop?
Tesla has applied an electronic braking system with no brake fluid or brake lines to its production two-door electric Cybercab. The two-seat vehicle, which is known to have no steering wheel or pedals, also does not use a traditional hydraulic brake system. Instead, electronically controlled actuators at each caliper apply braking force to the rotor. Elon Musk said electric brakes reduce the complexity of hydraulic systems by eliminating vehicle-wide plumbing.
