U.S. Congress introduces bill to tighten chip tool export controls to China, targeting ASML DUV
The U.S. Congress has introduced new export-control legislation aimed at blocking sales, maintenance and technical support for semiconductor equipment to major Chinese chip firms, Cryptopolitan reported. The bipartisan MATCH Act would narrow access to key tools China cannot produce and extends restrictions beyond advanced EUV to older DUV systems, including ASML immersion DUV. The bill lists firms such as SMIC and Huawei and would press allies to strengthen rules within 150 days.

Chinese semiconductor firms post record revenue last year on AI demand, U.S. export curbs
Chinese semiconductor companies posted record revenue last year, helped by a surge in AI demand, a shortage of memory chip supply and U.S. export curbs, CNBC reported. SMIC said 2025 revenue rose 16 percent to a record $9.3 billion, with LSEG analysts estimating 2026 revenue could top $11 billion. Hua Hong logged record quarterly revenue and guided for similar levels. Memory maker CXMT and GPU developer Moore Threads also reported strong growth.

AI demand reshapes semiconductor cycle
The semiconductor market’s supply-demand structure is changing as AI demand accelerates. General-purpose DRAM contract prices are expected to jump 90 to 95 percent in the first quarter, with customers prioritising securing volumes despite rising prices. TrendForce data show strong revenue and price gains in the fourth quarter. Analysts say AI investment is spreading from AI servers to general servers and could drive long-term infrastructure spending, while supply constraints and HBM capacity needs limit output growth.
