Hyundai Motor unveils China-focused Ioniq V at world premiere, bets on local platform and battery
Hyundai Motor has stepped up its electrification push aimed at the China market, putting a locally dedicated electric vehicle, the Ioniq V, at the centre of a broader plan spanning products, investment and technology cooperation. The company unveiled the model at Auto China 2026 in Beijing and officially launched its Ioniq electric vehicle brand in China. It also set out plans to invest 8 billion yuan and roll out 20 new models over five years.

China\'s Ganfeng starts mass production of ultra-high-density semi-solid-state batteries
Ganfeng Lithium, the world\'s largest lithium metal producer, is reported to have started mass production of a semi-solid-state battery with energy density reaching 650 Wh/kg. The company supplies battery materials to automakers including Tesla, Volkswagen and Hyundai Motor. Ganfeng also unveiled anode and cathode technologies and is continuing solid-state battery development at the sample stage, as competition in China intensifies.

China\'s FAW first to fit semi-solid battery in EVs, range tops 1,000 km
Global automakers and battery makers are accelerating efforts to commercialise all-solid-state batteries as a next-generation technology beyond lithium-ion. China’s state-owned FAW said it was the first in the industry to install a lithium-rich, manganese-based semi-solid battery in an electric vehicle. The company said the 142 kWh battery exceeds 500 Wh/kg in cell energy density and supports more than 1,000 km of range under China’s CLTC standard.
