[DigitalToday reporter Choi Jae-won (최재원)] China's electric vehicle maker BYD has launched the Da Han, a large electric sedan that can travel up to 1,008 km on a single charge. It is stepping up its push into the premium EV market with long-range performance, ultra-fast charging technology and high-end convenience features.

Electrek reported on Oct. 13 (local time) that BYD has started selling the Da Han in China. The Da Han is a new flagship sedan added to BYD's Dynasty series and sits above the existing Han.

The car is priced at 235,900 to 275,900 yuan (about 47,196,500 to 55,199,300 won). It comes in 3 trims and offers rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models.

The base rear-wheel-drive Premium model has a maximum range of 1,008 km under China's CLTC test cycle. The top all-wheel-drive model has a range of 880 km. All trims are equipped with a 102.326 kWh second-generation Blade battery.

The rear-wheel-drive model delivers maximum output of 370 kW (496 horsepower). The all-wheel-drive model adds a 200 kW motor on the front axle for combined maximum output of 570 kW (764 horsepower). It accelerates from zero to 100 kph in 3.3 seconds.

Charging performance is also drawing attention. Using BYD's flash charging technology, the company says the battery can be charged from 10 percent to 70 percent in 5 minutes and to 97 percent in 9 minutes. Ultra-fast charging performance may vary depending on conditions such as charging equipment and battery status.

The body measures 5,256 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and has a wheelbase of 3,130 mm, placing it in the large sedan class. It also applies high-end specifications such as dual-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering and zero-gravity front seats.

All trims come standard with lidar and BYD's God's Eye B driver assistance system. It supports navigation-based driving assistance on highways and in cities, as well as remote parking.

BYD is expanding its lineup in China's premium EV market by adding the Da Han following the flagship Da Tang SUV it introduced earlier.
