[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong (홍진주)] Geely launched the high-performance electric sports sedan TT in China at 129,900 yuan (about 26.04 million won), intensifying price competition.

Electrek, an electric vehicle outlet, reported on Sept. 11 local time that the TT applies an 800-volt charging system and lidar as standard across all trims, while being priced below rival models.

The TT, sold in China as the Galaxy TT, comes in five trims. Four rear-wheel-drive versions are priced at 129,900 to 159,900 yuan (about 26.04 million to 32.05 million won), while the all-wheel-drive Ultra model costs 185,900 yuan (about 37.26 million won). Geely said it secured more than 20,000 pre-orders over about two weeks ahead of the launch.

Performance also stands out. The TT applies CATL's lithium iron phosphate battery, called the Shenshing TT, and an 800-volt architecture across all trims. Geely explained that an 11-minute charge can add about 500 km of driving range. The base model runs 640 km under China's CLTC standard and 518 km under WLTP with a 63.8 kWh battery. A higher rear-wheel-drive model with a 75.2 kWh battery runs up to 725 km under CLTC.

Driving performance also exceeds its price range. Single-motor models produce 245 kW (329 horsepower), while the dual-motor Ultra delivers a combined 425 kW (570 horsepower). The Ultra accelerates from a standstill to 100 km per hour in 3.8 seconds. Lotus tuned the chassis, and Geely stressed it set a Guinness World Record for continuous drifting on wet roads for more than 46 km with the TT.

Advanced driver assistance functions are also standard. The lidar fitted across all trims links with Geely's G-ASD system to support navigation functions on highways and in cities. The cabin applies a 'Super Eva' AI assistant and a Flyme sound system with 23 speakers. The wheelbase is 2,920 mm and the body length is slightly under 5 metres.

The rival model Geely directly targets is Xiaomi's electric sedan SU7. In China, the new SU7 base model starts from 229,900 yuan (about 46.08 million won). That is a difference of about 100,000 yuan versus the TT base model, and even the 185,900 yuan Ultra is cheaper than the SU7 base model. Geely is highlighting that it provides an electric sedan with similar class and performance at a price close to half.

The TT is based on Geely's GEA EVO platform and applies a front double wishbone and rear five-link suspension, adaptive damping and other features. For now, it is a China-only model. As Geely plans to enter the U.S. electric vehicle market within the next 2 to 3 years, whether the TT expands to overseas markets will be a point to watch in Geely's electric vehicle strategy.
