Google, Apple in-app payment fines decision expected this month

South Korea\'s Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission expects to reach a conclusion this month on fines over Google and Apple’s alleged forced use of in-app payments. Chairman Kim Jong-cheol said a decision is expected before October ends. The watchdog pre-notified a planned fine in October 2023 over alleged breaches of the Telecommunications Business Act, but final action has been delayed for about three years. KBS posts 21.584 percent audience share last year, top among terrestrial broadcasters

KBS recorded the highest audience share among domestic broadcasters last year at 21.584 percent, up 0.722 percentage points from a year earlier. The Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission released its 2025 audience share calculation for 290 broadcasters operating 423 channels with annual viewing records. Among general programming channels, TV Chosun led with 6.997 percent. YTN and Yonhap News TV posted gains, while CJ ENM fell and KT Skylife rose.
