Ruling party science committee holds policy talks on second-half priorities, AI budget, power and network law
Ruling party lawmakers on the National Assembly’s science, ICT, broadcasting and communications committee held closed-door policy talks on July 22 with relevant government agencies. Participants reviewed progress on existing projects for the second half, including space launch vehicles and nuclear power safety issues. Lawmakers also discussed budget constraints for large AI projects such as AI data centres and physical AI, power demand linked to AI expansion and the need to strengthen SMR research and investment.

South Korea regulator fines Agoda 2.42 billion won over unclear fees
South Korea\'s Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission said on July 6 it would fine online travel platform Agoda 2.424 billion won and issue a corrective order for violating the Telecommunications Business Act. The regulator said Agoda did not clearly disclose key information such as refund conditions, cancellation or change fees and additional charges for pay-later options during the booking process, making it difficult for users to understand costs.

Samsung Electronics selected for free TV programme for disabled for seventh straight year
Samsung Electronics said on Wednesday it has been selected for a seventh straight year as a supplier for the Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission\'s programme to provide free TVs for the visually and hearing impaired. The Korea Communications Agency\'s Viewer Media Foundation will choose recipients by priority. Samsung will supply 35,000 43-inch full HD smart TVs from late this month through year-end. Low-income disabled users receive them free, while others pay 100,000 won.
