KBS recorded the highest audience share among domestic broadcasters last year at 21.584 percent.
The Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission held its 39th plenary meeting on Tuesday and announced the 2025 audience share calculation for 290 broadcasters operating 423 channels with annual viewing records.
Audience share is calculated by adding together a broadcaster's audience share and that of related parties, plus an audience share converted from daily newspaper subscription rates, based on the proportion of a specific channel's viewing time out of total television viewing time.
Among terrestrial broadcasters, KBS posted an audience share of 21.584 percent, up 0.722 percentage points from 20.862 percent a year earlier. MBC rose 0.454 points to 11.432 percent, while SBS fell 0.618 points to 6.932 percent. EBS slipped 0.127 points to 1.732 percent.
Among general programming channels, TV Chosun ranked highest at 6.997 percent, followed by JTBC at 6.483 percent, MBN at 4.233 percent and Channel A at 4.063 percent. From a year earlier, only JTBC gained, rising 0.338 points, while TV Chosun fell 0.444 points, Channel A dropped 0.814 points and MBN declined 0.521 points.
Among all-news channels, YTN came in at 3.995 percent and Yonhap News TV at 3.488 percent, up 0.536 points and 0.203 points, respectively, from a year earlier.
Among major programme providers, CJ ENM posted 9.058 percent, down 2.034 points from a year earlier. KT Skylife, a satellite broadcaster, rose 0.166 points to 3.853 percent.
The media exchange rate, which shows the relative influence of daily newspapers when TV broadcasting is set at 1, was calculated at 0.51 last year.
