U.S. blocks exports of AI chips to overseas Chinese affiliates, Nvidia and AMD shares face opening pressure

The U.S. government is requiring export licences for advanced AI chips shipped to overseas affiliates of Chinese companies, a move that could pressure Nvidia and AMD shares at the June 1 market open. The Commerce Department\'s Bureau of Industry and Security issued guidance requiring separate approval when the ultimate parent is in China. The measure aims to close enforcement gaps rather than impose a blanket ban, while raising due diligence requirements across distributors and cloud resellers.
