Selvas AI said on Monday it will expand its mobility AI business on the back of its in-vehicle voice recognition middleware technology. The company said its middleware connects and controls different global voice recognition engines so they operate reliably in vehicle environments. It said the engine-independent structure supports multiple languages, vehicle system integration and stability to meet requirements from automakers and Tier 1 suppliers. Selvas AI said it has secured mass-production supply experience with major domestic automakers and plans to expand into rail and industrial mobility.

Rivian has partnered with Uber to develop a robotaxi based on the R2 SUV, a deal valued at up to $1.25 billion. Uber will make an initial $300 million investment in Rivian and plans to introduce up to 50,000 robotaxis by 2030. Uber plans to launch the R2 robotaxi in San Francisco and Miami in 2028 and expand to 25 cities in North America and Europe by 2031.
