Bitcoin retreats after 12-week high, fails again near $79,000

Bitcoin briefly reclaimed a 12-week high of $79,399 but fell back in Asian trading and failed to retake $80,000. It was last down 2.09 percent over 24 hours at about $77,700. Analysts flagged $80,000 as a level where selling often emerges as underwater positions are closed. Major altcoins also weakened. Binance.US rolls out ultra-low spot fees targeting Coinbase, effectively near zero

Binance.US has introduced an ultra-low fee structure across all spot trading pairs, applying 0 percent maker fees and 0.02 percent taker fees with immediate effect. The move removes its previous volume-tiered fee schedule and extends fee-free trading from some bitcoin pairs to the entire spot market. Binance.US said the change can cut fees by up to 98 percent versus rivals. It also cited a SOC 2 Type II audit and broader service expansion.

Russia passes first reading of bill to bring cryptocurrencies into formal sector

Russia is pushing a bill to bring cryptocurrencies into the formal sector while tightening controls. The State Duma passed a first reading of the “Digital Currency and Digital Rights” bill, which would legalise crypto but concentrate oversight with the central bank. Digital asset firms would need licences, crypto would be treated as property but barred as a payment means, and individual investors would face eligibility tests and annual caps. Only large, established coins could initially trade.
