Naver steps up AI expansion from infrastructure to offline data
Naver is expanding AI infrastructure and consumer services, including an AI factory being developed with Nvidia and broader use of action-oriented AI across search, shopping, Place and payments. It plans to connect offline data through Npay Connect. Naver reported second-quarter revenue of 3.39 trillion won, up 16.2 percent, and operating profit of 520.3 billion won, down 0.2 percent, citing higher costs including AI infrastructure and Npay Connect terminals.

Kakao focuses on everyday AI linking orders, reservations and payments in KakaoTalk
Kakao is prioritising agent services in KakaoTalk that identify user intent and link it to orders, reservations and payments, rather than entering AI infrastructure such as data centres and GPU cloud. CEO Chung Shin-a outlined a plan to start with food delivery through a Coupang Eats tie-up and expand to commerce, reservations and travel. Kakao aims to raise monthly AI users to 10 million by end-2026 and begin monetisation via fees and subscriptions in 2027.

SKT Q2 operating profit jumps 67% on AI infrastructure growth
SK Telecom said its second-quarter operating profit rose sharply on base effects from last year\'s SIM replacement costs and growth in its AI infrastructure business. AI data centre revenue rose more than 90% from a year earlier. It plans to secure AI data centre customers early and increase investment via newly established wholly owned unit SK Hyper. The company also announced quarterly dividends of 830 won per share.
