Lam Research Korea launches robotics challenge for high school students
Lam Research Korea has begun nationwide qualifying rounds for its Lam Research Robo Challenge, a robotics competition program for high school students, it said on May 20. The programme is hosted by Lam Research Korea and SeedCoop, with support from the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. Qualifiers will be held in five regions, with the next round on May 23 in Ansan and the final on Aug. 13 in Seoul.

Shinhan Bank expands Sunday branches in Daegu and Busan to boost foreigners\' access to finance
Shinhan Bank said on Sunday it will offer Sunday banking tailored to foreign customers at its Busan Financial Center branch in Jung-gu, Busan, and at its Seongseo branch in Dalseo-gu, Daegu. With the expansion, the bank will have four Sunday branches for foreign customers, adding to its Dongdaemun and Suwon Station branches. Services include overseas remittances, account openings and internet banking. The bank also raised the credit limit on its SOL Global Loan for foreign workers.

Naver, Kakao expand R&D spending, focus on in-house AI
Naver and Kakao increased research and development spending last year to record levels, their filings showed. Naver spent 2.22 trillion won and raised R&D to 18.5 percent of revenue, focusing on wider use of its HyperCLOVA X AI and expanding computing infrastructure. Kakao spent 1.30 trillion won, or 16 percent of operating revenue, and created the Kanana organisation to strengthen in-house large language model development.
