Shinhan Bank said on Sunday it will offer Sunday banking tailored to foreign customers at its Busan Financial Center branch in Jung-gu, Busan, and at its Seongseo branch in Dalseo-gu, Daegu.
With the expansion, the number of Sunday branches for foreign customers has increased to 4, adding to the existing Dongdaemun branch and Suwon Station branch.
The Sunday branches are in-person specialised channels for foreign workers and residents who find it difficult to visit a bank on weekdays. Shinhan Bank selected Busan and Daegu as additional areas of operation because of the size of the foreign resident population and heavy foot traffic.
The branches provide services including overseas remittances, account openings, debit card applications and internet banking. They operate every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Shinhan Bank is also expanding financial services for foreign customers. It raised the credit limit on its SOL Global Loan, a credit loan for foreign workers, to 50 million won from 20 million won and added preferential interest-rate items.
It has also set up a specialised lounge at its foreigner-focused branch in Ansan to provide tailored financial consultation services for high-net-worth foreign customers.
A Shinhan Bank official said the expansion of Sunday branches is expected to improve foreign customers' access to financial services and that the bank will continue to expand channels and services for foreign customers.
