SOOP will handle the official broadcast production of the World Finswimming Championships, which will be held in South Korea for the first time, and will exclusively live stream all events among domestic media platforms.
SOOP said on Tuesday it will exclusively carry the '2026 24th CMAS World Finswimming Championships' to be held at the Munhak Park Tae-hwan Swimming Pool in Incheon. The event, hosted by the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (CMAS), runs through June 28, with about 600 athletes from 40 countries competing.
SOOP has built broadcast cooperation ties with swimming-related organizations including the Korea Underwater Fin Swimming Association, the Seoul Swimming Federation and the Ansan Swimming Federation, accumulating broadcast experience in related disciplines. For this event, it plans to use its existing know-how to vividly convey the speed of finswimming and the on-site feel of underwater sports to viewers.
Many key members of South Korea's national team will compete at the home event. Leading athletes including Yoon Young-joong (윤영중), Shin Myung-jun (신명준), Kwon Nam-ho (권남호) and Kim Min-jung (김민정), who have won medals on the world stage and in Asia or hold world records, are aiming to win medals.
All events can be watched through SOOP's official platform. In addition to live broadcasts, the service is set to include the full competition schedule, replays (VOD) and key highlight videos.
Yoo Joon-suk (유준석), head of SOOP's sports business division, said it was meaningful that SOOP will produce and broadcast the World Finswimming Championships being held in South Korea for the first time. He said the company will do its best in production so viewers can vividly feel the speed and atmosphere unique to underwater sports.
