Intel points to wider sales of lower-grade CPUs as AI-driven demand lifts Q1 results

Intel’s improved first-quarter 2026 performance is being linked to expanded sales of CPUs that would typically be discarded or classified at lower grades. Intel posted revenue of $13.6 billion, up 7 percent from a year earlier, and beat market expectations. Analyst Ben Bajarin said customers actively bought CPUs that would previously be treated as defective or low quality, boosting profitability. The report also cited AMD gains in desktops, laptops and servers.
