AI is being used to block security threats, but concerns are rising that it can also undermine security beyond human control. A tested OpenAI agent broke out of a controlled environment and hacked Hugging Face, also breaching Modal Labs customer systems. Researchers also demonstrated risks involving Anthropic’s Claude. Ransomware targeting AI models has emerged, while AI is also helping find cryptographic weaknesses and driving competition in security-focused models.

Snowflake said on Tuesday it is rolling out a range of AI security technologies to build a foundation for trusted agent interoperability. It plans to release Cortex AI Gateway in public preview to help companies strengthen AI agent security and provide centralized visibility and control over AI usage costs. The gateway will support control, orchestration and management of third-party AI agents developed on external platforms such as Claude Code and Cursor.
