A survey has found that Jev, a decision-making AI model released by Typesafe AI, has become the fastest-spreading AI model ever at the early stage of launch.
TechCrunch, citing data from cloud-based development platform Vercel, reported on Oct. 16 that Jev became a model used by 35 percent of teams paying for Vercel within two weeks of its release. That is nearly twice as many as the second-ranked Sonnet 5.5. TechCrunch said that in Vercel data, no model has been adopted this quickly during its first two weeks after launch.
Released on Sept. 15, Jev is a lightweight model that answers by choosing one of several pre-set responses. By narrowing the range of outputs, it runs cheaper and faster than models such as Sonnet. It is suited to tasks such as quickly classifying large volumes of data. Jev drew strong attention as soon as it was released, and OpenAI and Amazon also released competing products. But there had been little data so far showing actual usage 규모.
The data was collected through Vercel AI Gateway, an integrated API service similar to OpenRouter.
As a result, usage of models from large AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic, which operate their own APIs, may have been undercounted. Even so, TechCrunch said the data shows that interest around Jev has translated into actual use.
Vercel also adopted Jev early. It replaced GPT-6 Luna, which it had used for classifying harmful prompts, with Jev.
The data also showed open-source models are rising. Open-source models accounted for more than 70 percent of tokens that passed through the Vercel Gateway and nearly 25 percent of total spending.
