Tesla Cybercab cannot be charged at home, lacking AC charger and relying on Superchargers

Tesla\'s robotaxi-only Cybercab has been designed so it cannot be charged at ordinary homes because it does not include an onboard charger used for AC charging, the report said. It instead relies on DC fast-charging infrastructure such as Tesla Superchargers. Tesla is also preparing a wireless charging system, though a cited video put it at up to 25 kW, far below Supercharger peak output. Final specifications may still change.

Tesla unveils rare earth-free Cybercab motor; doubts remain over supply chain shift

Tesla said it has fitted Cybercab with a new electric vehicle motor that does not use rare earths. The motor is 18 percent smaller and 25 percent lighter than its existing high-performance drive unit, and is more efficient, according to Electrek. The company has not disclosed the magnet material used. While the change could matter for supply chains amid tighter Chinese export controls on rare-earth processing, broader adoption beyond Cybercab remains uncertain.

Sodium-ion batteries seen as next contender in grid ESS market, with 20 percent share projected by 2030

Sodium-ion batteries are emerging as a next alternative in the grid energy storage system market, helped by lower raw material costs, performance in low temperatures and reduced cooling needs, Cleantechnica reported. Morgan Stanley Research estimates their installed-base share will reach 2 percent in 2027, 20 percent in 2030 and 37 percent in 2035. U.S. companies including ESS, Peak Energy and Unigrid are preparing products for grid and residential storage.
