April mobile number portability falls 10.4 percent from March

The number of mobile subscribers switching carriers in South Korea fell in April from the previous month, industry data showed. A total of 566,576 subscribers ported their numbers in April, down 65,891 from 632,467 in March, according to the Korea Telecommunication Operators Association. The number of subscribers porting to SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus all declined from March. The drop was attributed to a fading boost from new handset launches and weaker demand after the new school term.

Australia's APRA warns bank AI use outpaces governance and security

Australia's prudential regulator APRA warned that banks and other financial firms are rapidly expanding their use of artificial intelligence while governance and security frameworks are failing to keep up. In a letter to the industry, APRA cited shortcomings in governance, risk management, assurance and operational resilience. It said advanced AI can create new financial and operational vulnerabilities and could increase cyber risks, while boards often lack technical understanding to oversee AI-related risks.
