The number of mobile subscribers switching carriers in April fell from the previous month.
On May 4, the Korea Telecommunication Operators Association (KTOA) said 566,576 mobile subscribers ported their numbers in April, down 65,891 from 632,467 in March.
The number of subscribers porting to SK Telecom fell by 16,801 from a month earlier to 124,163. Subscribers porting to KT totaled 78,360, down 10,206 from 88,566 in March. Subscribers porting to LG Uplus came to 92,418, down 11,988 from 104,406 in March.
The April decline was attributed to a fading effect from new handset launches and weaker demand after the new school term. Compared with March, which coincided with the new school term, April number portability fell by about 10.4 percent.
