Anthropic unveils Cowork for Claude Code to support AI tasks without coding

Anthropic has unveiled Cowork, a simplified version of Claude Code, TechCrunch reported on Jan. 12. Built into the Claude desktop app, Cowork allows an AI to read and modify files in a specified folder, with extra instructions provided through a chat interface. The research preview is available only to Max subscribers, while others can join a waiting list. Anthropic said it is based on the Claude agent SDK.

VelaFi stablecoin payment platform raises $20 million in Series B

Stablecoin-based financial infrastructure company VelaFi has raised $20 million in a Series B investment round, Cointelegraph reported on Sunday. Founded in 2020, VelaFi has built payment infrastructure linking local banking systems, global remittance networks and stablecoin protocols. The company plans to use the funding to expand in the United States and Asia, obtain licenses and speed development of cross-border payment and settlement infrastructure, while stepping up its push into Japan.

Luminar sells lidar business for $22 million

Luminar has signed an agreement to sell its lidar business to Quantum Computing for $22 million, TechCrunch reported on Sunday. The contract could be amended if a better offer is received. Luminar filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December and also plans to sell its semiconductor subsidiary to Quantum Computing for $110 million. The deal needs approval from a U.S. bankruptcy judge.
