Ethereum 65 percent, Solana 100 percent vulnerable to quantum attacks as 'Q-day' shock looms

Ethereum and Solana face significant security risks in a future era of quantum computers, an analysis said. Quantum security group Project Eleven assessed that about 65 percent of Ethereum and virtually all of Solana are vulnerable to quantum attacks that could undermine public-key cryptography. It cited risks to Ethereum validator keys and Solana addresses that embed public keys. The Ethereum Foundation and Solana ecosystem developers are preparing post-quantum upgrades, with timelines extending into the next decade.

VanEck bullish calls contrast with prediction markets' 9 percent odds of $1 million bitcoin within five years

Market views are split on whether bitcoin will reach $1 million before 2030. VanEck digital assets research head Matthew Sigel said in a CNBC interview that bitcoin could hit $1 million within the next few years, comparing its adoption to the spread of video games across generations. VanEck sees about $2.9 million by 2050 in its base case. Prediction markets are more cautious, putting the chance of $1 million before 2030 at 9 percent.

South Korea science ministry discusses AI security response with industry, academia on Mythos

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT held a meeting on Friday with experts from industry, academia and research institutes to discuss the domestic impact of cybersecurity projects by global AI firms including Anthropic and OpenAI and possible responses. The ministry previously asked about 30,000 companies' chief information security officers to check their security readiness and later distributed additional guidance on AI-based cyberattack preparedness and CEO actions.
