[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] The Korea AI Association and Samil PwC have spearheaded the launch of the Korea CAIO Forum.

The Korea AI Association and Samil PwC held an inauguration ceremony and commemorative seminar for the Korea CAIO Forum on May 7, sharing future operating plans and a vision.

The event began with opening remarks by co-chair Jae-sik Choi (최재식), a professor at KAIST, and Samil PwC, along with a declaration of the forum's launch. It then moved to congratulatory remarks by lawmaker Jeong-a Hwang (황정아), a presentation of the operating roadmap by Young-woo Kwon (권영우), chair of the Korea CAIO Forum steering committee, and thematic presentations by Samil PwC, law firm Decode, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.

The Korea CAIO Forum sets as its core goals establishing private-sector-led AI governance and building a national representative industry-academia-research consultative body. It plans to position itself as a platform where AI decision-makers from industry, academia and public institutions gather to shape the direction of Korea's AI industry and develop standards for execution.

At the seminar, the forum shared: redesigning corporate operating systems in the AI era, covering organisation, responsibility and AX strategy; guidance on responding to regulation under the AI Basic Act; support systems for AI at small and medium-sized companies; and AI support projects for small and medium-sized companies.

Co-chair Choi said, "AI competitiveness is no longer determined at the level of understanding the technology itself." He added, "Now it will be who can redesign organisational and accountability systems more quickly and turn them into executable strategies that will create gaps between companies. The Korea CAIO Forum will grow into a place where leaders driving that transition come together to set standards and share experiences."

An official at Samil PwC, which co-hosts the forum, also stressed, "The Korea CAIO Forum will become a practical bridge linking industry and policy, the field and systems, and strategy and execution, and will serve as a central axis of Korean-style AI leadership."
