BCG Korea makes appointments to strengthen AI execution capabilities

BCG Korea promoted Byung-ryeol Kwak and Yoon-ju Kim to managing director and partner and hired Jung-hoon Lee as an MD partner, it said on Tuesday. The firm said it now has a 30-member leadership group comprising 7 lead partners and 23 MD partners. Kwak focuses on service operations, while Kim advises institutional investors and private equity. Lee, part of BCG X, has led AI and data-driven decision-making projects.

FriendlyAI offers free API access to K-EXAONE model after top 1st evaluation

FriendlyAI said on Jan. 20 it will provide the K-EXAONE 236B foundation model, developed by an LG AI Research consortium, for free in API form through Jan. 28. The company said K-EXAONE ranked first in a first-round performance evaluation. Developers can integrate or test the model through FriendlyAI’s serverless API without separate GPU configuration or complex infrastructure. FriendlyAI said the offer is aimed at helping users compare and switch from Qwen3 235B or closed models.

Smilegate to join Taipei Game Show 2026 with six indie games

Smilegate said on Jan. 20 that its global game platform Stove will participate in Taipei Game Show 2026, held in Taipei from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1. The company will serve as main title sponsor of the B2C zone’s Indie House and run a Stove-branded booth where visitors can try “K-indie games.” It will also run an online showcase and deliver a summit presentation on indie game growth.
