Com2uS lifted its first-quarter operating profit sharply on the back of steady performance by its main titles.
Com2uS said in a filing on Tuesday it posted consolidated first-quarter revenue of 144.7 billion won and operating profit of 5.1 billion won. Revenue fell 13.9 percent from a year earlier, but operating profit jumped 206.9 percent. On a standalone basis, revenue came to 122.9 billion won and operating profit rose 47.1 percent to 7.7 billion won.
The operating profit improvement was led by its baseball game lineup based on the KBO and MLB, and core titles such as Summoners War: Sky Arena. The baseball lineup drew a positive response through the season-opening effect and related promotions. Summoners War, marking its 12th anniversary, strengthened its long-running performance with major updates including a collaboration with The Lord of the Rings.
Com2uS plans to strengthen growth momentum in the second half through new releases and synergy with existing hits. In the third quarter, it will introduce in South Korea the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Zeus: The God of Pride, which is being developed by Eiberton. It is also preparing to release this year Towonamgui Crimson Inferno, based on Japanese anime intellectual property.
Summoners War, an existing flagship title, will expand its fandom through a global e-sports tournament, SWC. The baseball lineup will continue promotions timed to the season’s progress and offline tournaments, aiming to set a new record high in revenue.
It also plans to keep expanding its lineup based on promising intellectual property, including Gachiakuta: The Game (working title), Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint and A-Rank Party, to solidify its mid- to long-term growth foundation.
