BDACS, Aptos team up to expand onchain won stablecoin commerce

Digital asset infrastructure company BDACS said on Tuesday it will work with layer-1 blockchain platform Aptos to expand the ecosystem for its won stablecoin KRW1 and cooperate on infrastructure.

The partnership centres on expanding BDACS-issued won stablecoin KRW1 to the Aptos network.

The companies plan to broaden KRW1 use cases by using Aptos' domestic and overseas payment rails and its partnership network. They aim to build an onchain commerce environment in which the stablecoin is used transparently in the real economy by linking with large-user-base mobile voucher services, integrating with payments or combining with blockchain wallet infrastructure.

BDACS Chief Executive Hong-yeol Ryu (류홍열) said Aptos' transaction-processing performance and global network provide the best environment for bringing the digital financial infrastructure pursued by KRW1 into everyday life. He said the cooperation will help KRW1 establish itself as a general-purpose stablecoin used across various user touchpoints at home and abroad.

Ash Pampati (Ash Pampati), head of growth at the Aptos Foundation, said South Korea is a key market with high retail participation and active consumer-focused projects. He said the combination of BDACS' KRW1 and the Aptos blockchain will be used to build global onchain commerce infrastructure spanning everyday payments, corporate settlement and real-world asset tokenisation. He added it would be an important milestone in accelerating Aptos' full-stack infrastructure vision as the global financial system shifts toward tokenisation.
