Acts of kindness by post office delivery workers continue. A postman’s quick thinking saved an elderly person’s life.
Park In-hwan (박인환), head of Korea Post, visited the Seo Cheongju Post Office in North Chungcheong province on May 12 and commended postman Kim Ui-seop (김의섭) for rescuing an elderly resident who had collapsed alone on the road and lost consciousness.
Kim found a man in his 80s, identified only as A, lying on a quiet farm road in Osong-eup, North Chungcheong province, while delivering mail on the morning of May 7. Kim immediately roused him so he could regain consciousness, and A regained consciousness shortly afterward.
At A’s request, Kim informed A’s family of the situation. A was handed over to family members who rushed to the scene. The good deed became known after A’s family visited the post office to express their thanks.
Park said he was proud that delivery workers who travel across society are spreading a positive influence by looking after people’s lives as well.
