Revamped Budget Phone Square Plus strengthens role as offline hub
Budget Phone Square Plus, an offline space for understanding and experiencing MVNO services, has reopened with upgraded facilities near Seodaemun Station in Seoul. Backed by KB Kookmin Bank and operated by the Korea MVNO Association, it offers plan comparisons, sign-ups and administrative support, as well as a cafe-style rest area. The association plans to open a meeting room via online reservations. The MVNO industry is also watching higher spectrum usage fees as exemptions are phased out.

Alipay's ambitious plan to evolve into an alternative to Visa and Mastercard
Ant Group is building Alipay+ into a digital-wallet-linked payment platform across Asia, Europe and the Middle East as it seeks to expand its role in global digital finance. The Information reported Ant International grew 20 to 25 percent in 2025 to about $3.7 billion in revenue and handled $1.4 trillion in funds transfers. Ant charges merchants fees and shares some with wallet partners, similar to Visa and Mastercard, while focusing on QR-based payments and additional services.

Coinbase-led Ethereum layer-2 blockchain Base has drawn controversy in its developer community over a strategy focused on creator token issuance linked to NFT marketplace Zora. CoinDesk reported that the approach helped lift on-chain activity, with Zora-based creator coin minting at one point exceeding Solana’s daily token minting volume. Some Base-native developers say official marketing and social media resources are overly concentrated on Zora, sidelining other projects and weakening incentives to keep building on Base.
