KakaoPay’s cumulative issuance of the “KakaoPay Travelog check card,” introduced with Hana Card, has surpassed 500,000. The combination of KakaoPay Money and Hana Card’s Travelog benefits, which improves payment convenience at home and abroad, is seen as having helped expand the user base.

KakaoPay said on Monday cumulative issuance of the “KakaoPay Travelog check card,” launched with Hana Card, has topped 500,000.

The KakaoPay Travelog check card is structured so that payments are made in foreign-currency Hana Money overseas and in KakaoPay Money domestically. For overseas spending, it offers Hana Card Travelog benefits such as free currency exchange, waiver of overseas usage fees and waiver of overseas ATM withdrawal fees. In South Korea, it can be used for payments by linking it to KakaoPay Money, and it also offers KakaoPay points accrual.

Another feature is that users can link their existing financial-industry accounts to KakaoPay Money and use it without opening a separate account.

KakaoPay plans to expand partnerships with card companies to broaden the use of KakaoPay Money. It aims to widen the scope of partnerships so users can link KakaoPay Money not only to new cards but also to check cards they already hold.

A KakaoPay official said, “The KakaoPay Travelog check card offers a payment experience that flexibly covers both physical cards and mobile easy payments, and it has been steadily loved.” The official added, “We will continue to expand connectivity with various payment methods to enhance user convenience.”
