Ministry of Science and ICT to hold hearing on mobile frequency reallocation

The Ministry of Science and ICT will gather opinions on its detailed policy for reallocating 370 MHz of mobile spectrum reaching the end of its usage term in 2026. The plan covers 3G and LTE bands held by SKT, KT and LG Uplus. A Dec. 1 briefing will outline market conditions, fee calculation and policy drafts, followed by discussion with academics, researchers, operators and consumer groups. SKT and LG Uplus are closely watching debates over the 2.6 GHz band. The ministry plans to finalise the policy within the year.
