KOSPI hits record high after wild swing; Samsung Electronics enters global top 10 by market cap

South Korea's KOSPI ended at a fresh record high on June 2 after sharp intraday swings, closing up 0.15 percent at 8,801.49. The index tried to break 9,000 before falling to the 8,500 range, then rebounded late. Individuals and institutions were net buyers, while foreigners sold heavily. Samsung Electronics rose 3.30 percent and maintained a 2,000 trillion won market value, ranking around 10th globally by market capitalisation.
