Polymarket steps up prediction market expansion with MLB partnership

Prediction platform Polymarket has signed an official partnership with Major League Baseball, TechCrunch reported. The deal gives Polymarket access to MLB data and the right to use the league’s logo on its products, along with in-stadium branding exposure and digital promotion opportunities. MLB also signed an MOU with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission to share information on baseball and prediction markets.

OpenAI to acquire developer tools startup Astral, bolstering coding AI Codex

OpenAI will acquire developer tools startup Astral to strengthen its position in the AI coding market, CNBC reported on Thursday. The size of the deal was not disclosed. OpenAI plans to use the acquisition to expand its AI coding assistant Codex and pursue a strategy of increasing market share against rivals such as Anthropic and Cursor. Astral has provided open-source developer tools. OpenAI said Codex has 2,000,000 weekly active users, triple the level at the start of this year.
