Shiba Inu’s daily burn rate plunged. Over the past 24 hours, 1.38 million SHIB was burned, worth about $7, sending the daily burn rate down 87.63%.

U.Today, a blockchain media outlet, reported on Aug. 6 local time that 17,464,058 SHIB was burned on the prior tally day, pushing the daily burn rate up 706%, but the trend reversed in a day.

The drop came as the burn pace slowed sharply from the previous day. The amount removed from circulation over the past 24 hours was smaller than on the prior tally day, pulling down short-term burn indicators quickly.

The burn itself has not stopped. New burn transactions continue, adding to existing burned amounts.

Over a longer period, the trend is mixed. Shibburn showed 315.8 million SHIB was burned over the past 7 days, and the weekly burn rate fell 69.94%. Over the past 30 days, the increase was large. The burn rate jumped 1,351% in that period, and burn volume totalled 3.47 billion SHIB.

The biggest monthly burner was WoofSwap. The decentralised exchange (DEX) sent 3,081,392,109 SHIB to an inactive wallet over the past 30 days. Robinhood also burned 154,315,629 SHIB over the same period. Of Shiba Inu’s initial supply of 1 quadrillion tokens, cumulative burned volume totals 410,843,687,208,931 SHIB, with 21,473 related burn transactions.

The slower burn rate coincided with price weakness. SHIB fell 3.35% over the past 24 hours. With the broader market failing to establish a clear direction, major cryptocurrencies also showed limited moves, and Shiba Inu did not avoid a downturn.

Participation in the derivatives market also declined. CoinGlass data showed Shiba Inu open interest fell 5.03% to $43.51 million. The figure was presented as reflecting outflows in a situation where moves in Bitcoin and Ethereum futures markets were not large. Across altcoins, aggressive positioning was concentrated in only some tokens, while Shiba Inu saw a relatively quiet flow.

Project development continues. Analyst Mazrael said the Shiba Inu development team expanded 18 pages of developer documentation, including a paymaster supporting ERC-4337-based gasless transactions, a cryptocurrency payments API, hosted on-chain data endpoints and the ShibaSwap SDK. Mazrael said these elements are core components needed to build consumer apps on Shibarium.

In the short term, burn indicators, prices and derivatives market fund flows have all slowed, while development tools to expand the Shibarium ecosystem continue to be refined. The market is expected to watch whether the burn pace recovers and whether expanded developer support leads to actual on-chain activity.
