[Digital Today reporter Yoonseo Lee] Dogecoin is extending a weak run after posting its first short-term death cross of August.

On Aug. 6 (local time), blockchain outlet U.Today reported that on Dogecoin’s hourly chart the 50-day moving average fell below the 200-day moving average, forming a death cross.

Dogecoin has been declining since Aug. 3. It has closed higher on only 1 day in August so far. The current price is down 1.78 percent over 24 hours to $0.068, and is down 2.03 percent on the week. If the move continues, it could mark 4 straight trading days of declines since Aug. 3.

The first level market participants watch is support at $0.068. If Dogecoin fails to hold that level, additional downside pressure could grow. If it rebounds, resistance is seen between $0.073 and $0.08.

This bearish signal also aligns with a weekly death cross formed in late July. At the time, Dogecoin completed a death cross on the weekly chart for the first time since 2023. The signal has previously appeared ahead of periods of Dogecoin price stagnation.

Macro factors are also affecting the short-term move. The cryptocurrency market is showing mixed moves ahead of the July nonfarm payrolls and unemployment rate data due to be released on Aug. 7. The market expects 83,000 new jobs and no change in the unemployment rate.

Some easing signals also emerged from on-chain indicators and fund flows. Crypto analyst Ali said the weekly number of active Dogecoin addresses rose 16 percent to 44,000 from 38,000. As the rise in active addresses was confirmed, network activity moved in a different direction from short-term price action.

Exchange-traded fund (ETF) flows have also turned back to inflows. A Dogecoin spot ETF recorded net inflows on Aug. 4, the first net inflow since July 21. Based on SosoValue tallies, inflows into Dogecoin spot ETFs totalled $82,640.

On an annual basis, the number of net-inflow days for Dogecoin spot ETFs is still not large. There have been 9 days with net inflows so far in 2026, while net outflows occurred on only 2 days. Total net assets in Dogecoin spot ETFs are tallied at $10.11 million, with cumulative net inflows at $12.2 million.

As a result, technical bearish signals dominate in the short term, but the market is watching whether defence of the downside and a resumption of inflows can continue at the same time. Whether Dogecoin holds support at $0.068 and can recover above $0.073 is emerging as a factor that will determine the next move.
