MOTIE discusses response to EU supply chain due diligence revision

South Korea is responding jointly with the private sector to a planned revision of the European Union's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, the Industry Ministry said on Tuesday. The ministry held a meeting with related agencies and major firms including Samsung Electronics, LG Energy Solution and Hyundai Motor. Participants said the EU proposal could ease some burdens by narrowing coverage and adjusting scope, but urged close monitoring of forthcoming guidelines and member-state legislation.

ITCEN Entec unveils AI teaching and learning platform with 11 education offices

IT services firm ITCEN Entec said on Tuesday it unveiled an AI-based customised teaching and learning platform it co-developed with 11 regional education offices and the National Information Society Agency. The platform is designed to combine stable public education infrastructure with flexible private edtech functions. It provides a single sign-on environment for teachers and students and applies global standards such as OneRoster and cmi5 to support links with platforms including Google and Naver.

South Korea trade minister visits U.S. to step up response to tariff issue

South Korea's chief trade negotiator Yeo Han-koo visited Washington to respond to the Trump administration's plan to raise tariffs on South Korea, the industry ministry said. He met U.S. administration and congressional officials, as well as industry figures including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, to understand the background to the tariff move and explain Seoul's position. He also held a closed-door meeting with about 20 lawmakers handling trade issues.
