AI media dubbing startup Hudson AI said on Tuesday it will work with SBS to apply AI-based English and Spanish subtitles and dubbing to major content including the dramas 'Penthouse' and 'Taxi Driver'.
Hudson AI links the entire content localization process, from subtitle translation to multilingual dubbing, using media-focused AI technology.
Through the collaboration, SBS is expanding the scope of its AI use from content production to global localization. SBS is increasing the application of AI technology to support overseas expansion through global platforms such as Netflix and to expand in the Latin American market. It recently used generative AI to produce some scenes in the drama 'Kim Bujang'.
Hudson AI's AI dubbing solution, Hudson Studio, provides integrated support for dubbing production processes including voice separation, speaker separation, translation and speech synthesis. It has also recently advanced agentic AI dubbing technology that analyzes content context and relationships between characters.
An SBS official said it is using AI technology not only as a tool to improve production efficiency but also as a technology to expand content competitiveness and reach. The official said SBS hopes the collaboration will allow SBS flagship content to reach more global viewers.
Hudson AI CEO Hyun-jin Shin (신현진) said the company will continue to advance agentic AI dubbing technology to help SBS flagship IP reach viewers worldwide more quickly and naturally.
