National Radio Research Agency marks 60th anniversary, boosts 6G and quantum communications research

South Korea's National Radio Research Agency is marking its 60th anniversary by strengthening research into next-generation radio technologies such as 6G, terahertz and quantum communications. It also plans to advance AI-based frequency interference analysis and electromagnetic-wave forecasting technologies, and focus on preparing proactive systems to respond to technological change. The agency held a commemorative ceremony on July 29 at its campus in the Gwangju-Jeonnam joint innovation city.

MSIT launches public nano fab centers to build core R&D hub

South Korea will foster the National NanoFab Center and the Korea Nano Technology Institute as core hubs for the country’s nano research and development infrastructure, and expand a joint-use system linking industry, academia and research institutes. The Ministry of Science and ICT said First Vice Minister Gu Hyeok-chae attended a plaque ceremony in Suwon and chaired a public-private meeting on the centers’ development. The ministry plans a nano fab integrated information system to improve use of dispersed infrastructure.

LG Electronics steps up companywide AI work innovation drive, selects 5 projects at hackathon

LG Electronics said it held its first-half AX hackathon to identify work-innovation tasks using AI. About 2,100 employees took part and submitted more than 700 ideas. After two months of screening and verification, the company selected five projects, including a 24-hour autonomous work system for software development. Other projects aim to automate packaging design, improve logistics and SCM analysis, cut administrative work time and generate advertising content.
