KB Kookmin Bank has introduced a conversational financial service called KB AI in its KB Star Banking app using generative artificial intelligence. When customers ask questions in everyday language, the AI identifies intent to search for information or connect to financial transactions such as inquiries and transfers.

KB Kookmin Bank said on Wednesday it had launched the generative AI-based KB AI service.

KB AI applies natural-language integrated search. It analyses the meaning and context of a customer’s sentence to find relevant information such as KB Star Banking menus, financial products and frequently asked questions. It allows searches without entering exact menu names or financial terms.

It also supports actual financial transactions beyond information searches. If a customer types, "Show me my debit card spending details from last month" or "Send 100,000 won of allowance to my son," the AI identifies intent and carries out functions such as inquiries or transfers.

The service is designed so customers can use functions such as search, inquiries and transfers on one screen without separating chat windows by function. Users are connected to relevant services by entering what they need without separately selecting AI functions or moving to another screen.

The bank also expanded multilingual services for foreign customers. KB Kookmin Bank applied AI translation to provide the KB Kookmin Certificate issuance service in multiple languages in June, and has also applied it to KB Star Banking membership sign-ups that support services from bankbook opening to certificate issuance. It increased supported languages to 16 from 11.

A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "We applied generative AI so customers can use financial services more easily and conveniently," adding, "We will continue to incorporate AI technology into various financial services."
