[DigitalToday reporter Hojeong Lee (이호정)] Nexon will begin pre-registration for its new massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'Item Trick: Overgeared', which highlights gear-based progression and competition between users.
Nexon said on Wednesday it will open pre-registration for 'Item Trick: Overgeared', being developed by Gray Games, from 10 a.m. on Oct. 1.
Pre-registration will be available on the official page as well as Kakao, Google Play and the App Store. Participants will receive in-game benefits after the official launch.
'Item Trick: Overgeared' aims to be a competitive MMORPG and features a structure focused on developing characters around equipment and enjoying large-scale battles.
Nexon released a cinematic video on its official YouTube channel along with the pre-registration schedule. The video shows the game's universe and large-scale battles, including giant monsters, from the perspective of the weapon 'sword'.
On the day pre-registration begins, it will also release the first episode of a podcast-style video, 'Item Trick: Overtalk', introducing development direction and key content. The video is set to introduce the game's features as a competitive MMORPG and its gear-based progression system. Related videos will be released sequentially later.
The game is being developed based on the intellectual property (IP) 'Item Trick', produced as a web novel and webtoon. The original work logged a combined 1.3 billion views for KakaoPage web novel and webtoon and has ranked No. 1 in popularity on the Asian web novel platform 'Wuxiaworld'. In Japan's Piccoma, it has recorded a cumulative 85.28 million 'likes' and won the 'Piccoma Awards 2023'.
Nexon will handle publishing of 'Item Trick: Overgeared' and plans to launch it within the year as a PC and mobile cross-platform title in South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
