SK to sell Siltron to Doosan for 2.3 trillion won

SK Corp said on Thursday it signed a share purchase agreement to sell 47,322,350 common shares of SK Siltron to Doosan Corp for 2.3 trillion won, or 2.68% of SK Corp’s equity capital. The stake equals 70.6%. The deal is set to close on Jan. 31, 2027. SK Corp said the sale is aimed at strengthening financial soundness and securing funds for future growth.

Samsung Securities clears hurdle for short-term note licence; decision as early as September

A sanction related to Samsung Securities’ hub-branch sales practices that had blocked its entry into the short-term note business has been resolved. South Korea’s Financial Services Commission finalised the institutional penalty as a warning, which is not a disqualifying reason for a short-term finance licence. With the penalty level set, regulators are expected to resume the licensing review. A decision could come as early as the Sept. 9 regular meeting.

Foreigners snap up 8.8 billion won as retail dumps 10.4 billion won

South Korea’s KOSPI rose more than 1,000 points in a single session for the first time, setting records for both the point gain and percentage rise. Foreign investors led flows, net buying 8.8 billion won of domestic shares across the regular market and NextTrade, with SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics the top purchases. Retail investors posted a record net sell of 10.4 billion won.
