KakaoGames is unveiling the economy structure and growth system for "Dokkaebi's World", scheduled for release in October, and will begin character name reservations.

KakaoGames said on Sept. 21 it held a live demonstration on Sept. 18 of the 2.5D massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) "Dokkaebi's World" being developed by Supercat.

Park Sung-jun (박성준), a Supercat producer, Jang Su-min (장수민), a director, and Cha Myung-su (차명수), KakaoGames' head of business, appeared at the event. They played the game and answered user questions.

The key reveal was the in-game economy. Players can earn the game's currency, called "geumjeon", by playing content such as field bosses, raids and clan activities. Geumjeon is used to obtain items needed for growth and cosmetic items such as outfits and mounts.

The developers also set out a direction to separate growth elements from cosmetic elements. Outfits and mounts will not have stats that affect character growth.

Park Ji-hoon (박지훈), an advertising model, also joined the broadcast and played raid content. He demonstrated combat using dodges and skills and shared his impressions of the character and combat system.

Ahead of release, it will also run a character name reservation. From 8 p.m. to midnight on Sept. 22, players can register character names of 1 to 8 Korean characters, including single-character names such as "hae", "dal" and "byeol".

From 11 a.m. on Sept. 23, reservations will continue for names of 2 to 8 characters, excluding single-character names.

"Dokkaebi's World" is an MMORPG in development based on the intellectual property of the web novel and webtoon "Myeolgwisudojeon". It combines 2D pixel characters with 3D backgrounds and also collaborated with Redice Studio, the producer of "Solo Leveling".

KakaoGames plans to officially launch "Dokkaebi's World" at 11 a.m. on Oct. 8.
