Banks move as stablecoins grow in battle to defend digital dollars
U.S. financial firms are preparing a joint payments infrastructure that would let bank deposits be transferred directly on blockchains, as stablecoins expand. The Clearing House is pushing a system for 24-hour clearing and settlement of tokenised deposits, linking blockchain transactions to existing fiat networks such as RTP and CHIPS. The push is supported by regulatory distinctions between stablecoins and tokenised deposits, while banks focus on preventing deposit outflows.

iPhone 18 Pro seen using Apple-designed C2 chip for better battery and speed
Apple is expected to equip the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max with its next-generation, in-house C2 chip instead of a Qualcomm 5G modem, strengthening battery efficiency, privacy protection and network performance. The report said Apple aims to expand its own modem lineup and maximize vertical integration between hardware and software. Benefits cited include longer battery life, support for a privacy feature limiting precise location exposure, and better network processing in weak-signal areas.

MSIT and Broadcast Media Commission launch AI and media policy council
South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT and the Broadcast Media Communications Commission will jointly respond on artificial intelligence, media and digital regulation, aiming to reduce policy gaps as industry boundaries blur. The two agencies launched a policy council in Seoul on Tuesday. Cooperation will cover AI, media and OTT services, and digital regulation and user protection. They also plan to share parts of broadcast video AI training datasets via MSIT's AI Hub for research and education.
