Isu Chemical will pursue artificial intelligence transformation (AX) at its production sites. Isu Chemical said on Oct. 26 it was selected as an adopting company for the "2026 win-win AI transformation (AX) leading model development support project" promoted by the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs. The programme supports company-wide AX transformation at small and mid-sized manufacturers based on large companies' manufacturing innovation capabilities and aims to create leading models that can be expanded.

The project is led by Kolon Benit as the main company, with the Korea Productivity Center participating as a partner. Isu Chemical and Kolon Benit will build an AI-based operation support system that reflects the characteristics of continuous chemical processes. The starting point is linking on-site data into a single system, including process control, equipment history and production performance.

Time-series AI models will be applied to the linked data. The models learn the flow of data accumulated in time order to predict future changes. Through this, the company said it will establish a system to detect signs of process abnormalities in advance and analyse operating conditions.

AI will also be connected in real time to operators' decision-making. When process conditions change, AI will comprehensively analyse data and suggest a response direction. Operating conditions suggested by AI will be reflected in process operations only after an operator checks and approves them within a pre-set safe operating range.

Using operating and history data from key equipment, the company will create a predictive maintenance system that forecasts failures in advance and carries out maintenance to improve maintenance efficiency. It plans to link process operating data and energy use information to improve energy efficiency and also pursue carbon emissions reduction.

An Isu Chemical official said, "Through this project, we plan to build an AI-based operation support system and confirm improvements in the stability and efficiency of process operations during the actual application process." The official added, "Based on this, we will gradually expand the use of AI in the future and lay the foundation for strengthening manufacturing competitiveness."
