Modulate unveils ELM voice AI model

Modulate has unveiled ELM, a voice AI it says can understand emotion, context and intent, SiliconANGLE reported on Jan. 20. The company said ELM is built on a multilayer architecture designed to understand voice data, unlike existing large language models. Modulate said ELM is 30 percent more accurate than models from OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek and ElevenLabs, and costs 10 to 100 times less to operate.

Ethernovia raises $90 million to develop Ethernet chips for vehicles and edge AI

Ethernovia has raised $90 million and will move to develop next-generation packet processors, SiliconANGLE reported on Jan. 20 local time. Founded in 2018, the company develops high-performance Ethernet network chips for vehicles and edge devices. Its chips help manage data from cameras, radar, lidar, control units and AI accelerators to maintain low latency and high reliability, and include transceivers and packet processors supporting multi-gigabit speeds over a single cable.

Hungary, Portugal block Polymarket as European regulation spreads

Hungary and Portugal have tightened regulatory measures against crypto-based prediction market Polymarket, Cointelegraph reported on Monday. Hungary’s regulator blocked access to the platform’s domain and subdomains, citing illegal gambling, and said the block will remain until its review is completed. Portugal’s gaming regulator ordered Polymarket to stop operating, though local media reported access still appeared possible. Polymarket has not issued an official response.
