AI disruption could widen credit market risks, UBS analyst warns

A UBS analyst warned that corporate loans worth billions of dollars could be at risk of default as AI disruption threatens borrowers, CNBC reported on Feb. 13. He said private equity-owned software and data services companies face particular exposure. He estimated $75 billion to $120 billion of new defaults, based on forecasts that default rates in leveraged loans and private credit could rise to 2.5 percent to 4 percent. UBS said financing stress and loan restructurings could become unavoidable.
