FSS to shift digital, IT oversight to prevention, step up checks on AI and crypto

South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service said consumer protection will be the top priority in its 2026 supervision and inspections of the digital and IT sector, and it will move IT risk oversight to a preventive approach. It said it will strengthen digital resilience to minimise consumer damage and restore services quickly after incidents. The watchdog also outlined plans to support AI innovation while urging stronger risk management and internal controls, and to step up monitoring of big-tech e-finance firms and the virtual asset market.
