Solana-based Bags jumps to No. 2 on Jupiter launchpad rankings as GAS soars

Solana-based token launchpad Bags.fm has come into focus as the meme token Gas Town’s GAS token surged. GAS jumped 682 percent in 24 hours, while other tokens including RALPH, CMEM and VVM also rose more than 400 percent. GAS is tied to an open-source AI coding agent project by former Google developer Steve Yegge. New listings also spiked, and Bags ranked second on Jupiter’s launchpad leaderboard by volume.

MongoDB boosts data search, embedding models to expand AI-focused database

MongoDB is strengthening its data search and embedding models to simplify the process of commercialising AI solution prototypes, SiliconANGLE reported on Jan. 16. The company is upgrading embedding models based on its recently acquired Voyage AI and says the move will help developers build AI solutions faster and more accurately. It also says vector search can convert text, image and audio data into numbers to maximise AI performance.

Meta to shut VR work app Horizon Workrooms amid Reality Labs layoffs

Meta will shut its virtual reality workplace collaboration app Horizon Workrooms, Business Insider reported on Thursday. Launched in 2021 as part of the company’s metaverse push, the remote collaboration platform will no longer be accessible from Feb. 16 and related data will be deleted. The decision comes alongside planned staff cuts of 10 to 15 percent at Meta’s Reality Labs, the New York Times reported.
